THE WITNESS: he didn't give me at one time a half a million shekels, by the way. If it was given, it was in checks that were dated for particular dates, so it might have been one check was given to this creditor, another one for another creditor, so that might explain and dispel this unbelievability.
MR. MCGOVERN: so the checks were given to you on a sort of – they were given to you at once, but they had adjusted dates of cashability?
THE WITNESS: I believe it was on a basis – I remember more and more of it. I think it was at least six payments.
MS. BARAK: six payments?
THE WITNESS: I believe so. I believe that I remember it over a period of six months or maybe almost – maybe even a year.
MR. MCGOVERN: so with, like, post-dated checks?

54. עוד הוסיף ואמר יוסי אולמרט בחקירתו, כי כל שיק עמד על סכום של כ- 80,000 או 50,000 ש"ח. ולדבריו:
"THE WITNESS: if there were six checks, it can't have been hundreds of thousands apiece, because I believe that – it may have been 80,000 or 50,000 or something. I can't remember.
MS. BARAK: 50,000 apiece or –
THE WITNESS: I am not sure that I remember, but it was a significant amount of money. As I said, it was significant, and it was over a period of time, and it lasted for time…" (שם, עמ' 224).
55. יוסי אולמרט אף תיאר את פגישתו עם עד המדינה, בה ניתנו לו השיקים וציין, כי פגישתם התקיימה בקפה הבימה או קפה אפרופו בתל אביב:
"A. It must have been in Tel Aviv to start with, and either in Ahbima Café, as we said before – we spelled it out for you – or Apropo Cafe, but I can't remember. Maybe another – I don't remember…" (שם, עמ' 229).
56. עינינו הרואות, גרסת יוסי אולמרט במשטרה הינה גרסה מתפתחת. מהתפתחות גרסתו לאורך החקירה עולה, כי הדברים שמסר הם בבחינת המעט שיכול היה למסור, המעיד על המרובה. אם בתחילת החקירה אמר יוסי שלא קיבל כספים מעד המדינה, רק לאחר שנאמר לו כי אברהם נתן נחקר במשטרה ומסר שעד המדינה נתן לו כספים – החל אצל יוסי תהליך של "ריענון זיכרון" כהגדרתו (שם, עמ' 199-195), אשר במסגרתו החל, בהיסוס רב, לאשר קבלת כספים מעד המדינה באופן התואם "עיקרים מרכזיים בגרסתו של עד המדינה" כלשון בית המשפט המחוזי (עמ' 465 להכרעת הדין). קרי יוסי הודה בקבלת כספים מעד המדינה מתוך חשש שהראיות בידי החוקרים יעמידוהו בסיכון ומתוך אמונה כי דבריו אלו יוכלו לאפשר לו מחד גיסא לא להיתפס לדבר שקר בחקירה ומאידך גיסא להימנע מהפללת אחיו אולמרט.
